This Country of Mine by Korrin Lewis

Standing tall
This country of mine
Thru the ages
This country of mine
Intertwined
This country of mine
Like a great woven blanket
This country of mine
People from every nation
Is this great Country of Mine

Standing tall
This country of mine
No war, No pain, No disaster
Has brought down
This country of mine
Proud, Valiant, and Courageous
This country of mine
Is this your county, too?

Standing tall
This country of mine
Young it might be
This country of mine
But its home of
This country of mine
The Brave
This country of mine
And the True
Is this Country of Mine

Standing Tall
This country of mine
The NEW world
This country of mine
Free from oppression
This country of mine
Free in beliefs
This country of mine
Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness
This country of mine
Promised to us
In this country of mine

Stand tall my dear Country.

This is a poem I wrote for an English assignment. It hasn't been graded yet but I hope I did well.

I don't have much tolerance for Katey Perry, but I love this song, and the video that goes along with it.

Under age dating the elephant in the social conservative living room

http://www.thehightide.com/1/post/2012/03/underage-dating-the-elephant-in-the-social-conservative-living-room.html
this was written by a good friend of mine, and i have been delaying posting it because i was uncertain what to say. But it is amazing.not only should adults read it but teen should too. I do have two other things to add to what she said. 1. Just because your parents say not to , doesn't mean it is OK to do it behind their backs. I have seen so many teens, hurt by this. Its not smart and your parents set those rules because they are actually taking your interest to mind, not because they are out the get you. 2. you dont really need a boyfriend. Why not live life, and when the time comes when GOD says... then find that special some one.

What are you fighting for?

Yesterday my family and I went to Wal*mart for grocery shopping. Most the time we wander off while my mom is getting the food and stuff, we look around, look at the newest selection of their mesley book collection, or video games. Anyhow I was looking at iPod gadgets, and there were a few teenagers, sitting on a bench, and walking around. basically just hanging out. Anyhow, a boy and girl caught my attention. They gave me the feeling that they were a "couple", though the way the girl was treating that boy they seemed more like bickering siblings. The girl who might have been beautiful if she didn't wear so much make up, and so little clothing, and the boy looked like he hadn't bathed in the past month. And I began to think, this is what my generation is? Bratty slut and sleazy guys? Do teens have nothing to show for themselves? Then I literately saw those kids futures, while i walked though the store. There was a woman, who wore clothes that were much to small for her, might have been in her mid-twenties, screaming kids handing on the cart, and her while she tried to shop. A man, who was dirty, unshaven, skinny as the dead, and he didn't even look present. I saw a woman tired, arguing with a teenage girl who was not wearing enough clothes. Why? Why do we let the past repeat its self? Why do we fight for the stupid things but when we see couple like those teens, we do not say anything? I honestly wish I  had said something. I don't want to see my generation who are new and young and who could remake this world, fall back into past mistakes. I don't want my kids to grow up and that be the norm.
So I challenge you, my friends, be more. Be more than what his world says is the norm. Why not make a better future for yourself and those you care about? Why not fight for that which is worth fighting for instead of pouring your energy into a lost past? We are the inheritors of this earth, though it might not be much now, it can be great if you just try.

Hope

It starts with a spark,
Then grows into a flame,
Then slowly it becomes,
Stronger and stronger,
So strong that it can not be contained
No amount of water or dirt can smother it,
It touches everything
Effects everyone,
Let this world burn with Hope.

I have seen the strength of man
I have seen the weakness of man
I have seen the love of man
I have seen the hate of man
I have seen the hope of man
I have seen the lust of man
I have seen the best and worst of man. I often wonder how we have no destroyed ourselves yet. I have wondered why we can not live in harmony with each other. Such emotional, self destructive creature we are. Yet we are still here.
You know when I was little I hated how people had twisted this beautiful earth into what we wanted, suit it to our needs. We made it a hollow of what it was meant to be. Then yesterday I was watching the telephone lines, thinking about something to paint, trees, telephone lines and all, when I realized despite the fact that man had put the lines there, nature has still grown around it, it has continued on despite our own force that has held it back.
And I continued to think about it when I realized love is the exact same way. We twist and mangle it to what WE want it to be, and we can hold back the real stuff, the natural stuff, but it will continue to grow it will continue to live on. Because nobody told it, it couldn't. Nobody can stop the growth, not permanently...because even the slight amount of light can snuff out the darkness.

None can run from death, so why not live for today?
So it has defiantly been a while but no worries ;)
So if you have notice (if you haven't, continue to read on) a lot of people have been going on about this KONY 2012. Honestly I didn't know what to say about it. I watched the video, but i was afraid it was a scam, or that it was just some silly thing to waste you time on. Then I visited the web site. Wow, Woow WOW. Over 3 million people have joined up to but a stop to this mass murder. America is hunting down this man, and thousands are adding their voice to this act. A man who has kidnapped over 30,000 children from their homes, and forced them to serve in his army. Children! with guns, forced to kill people who could be their neighbors and friends. This is not Right!! And do you know what we can do in safe America? We make our selves heard. We make sure that this does not go unrecognized. We make sure that Kony does not get away with his crimes, because no life is expendable! And we as people have to chance to make a difference!
